“We needed to sell companies when they reached a market cap of 3 and 5 billion because they no longer fit into our Small/Micro Cap mandate. In many instances we believed these great companies were still trading at attractive valuations. We can now incorporate them into a similar strategy.” – Marc Dion CFA
Our Small/Mid Cap Value strategy is an extension of our Small/Micro Cap Value portfolio. We select small cap companies from the current holdings of our Small/Micro Cap Value portfolio, and couple those with mid cap companies chosen using the same philosophical approach as the Small/Micro Cap Value portfolio. We place a special emphasis on capturing those mid cap names that grew out of our Small/Micro Cap Value strategy.
This strategy applies a successful investment approach to an expanded universe of stocks. It also allows us to leverage our sometimes decades long institutional knowledge of individual companies that are now too large to be owned in the Small/Micro Cap Value strategy but are still attractive investments.
